He won three Golden Guitar Awards and wrote more than five hundred songs in his fifty-year music career. ==Early Years == Born in the Sydney suburb of Waverley in 1929, Reg was two years of age when his father gave him a harmonica which he quickly mastered. He then learned how to play the banjo, mandolin, guitar and fiddle.
